Jaimie grew up in a small town in Illinois but has lived and worked in Tucson since 2006. She has worked in physical therapy since 1998 and has been practicing yoga since 2000. She is the author of the book Therapeutic Answers to Common Yoga Pose Questions.
Jaimie observes and assesses the whole body, not just the area of pain or discomfort. She works with clients empowering them to help themselves with exercises and yoga poses. She is passionate about educating clients in breathing, body awareness, stress management, and personal influences that can help create positive change. She gives her clients the responsibility of healing their own bodies and helps them find their own personal practice. With her combined medical and yoga background, Jaimie has a unique opportunity to bridge yoga and healthcare. She teaches at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, where she educates doctors and health care providers on the benefits of yoga and uses real life examples of bridging yoga into healthcare. She is confident most anyone can benefit from yoga and tends to draw a variety of clients, including brand new and seasoned yogis. Jaimie's passion for physical therapy first developed when she was 15 years old, watching her grandfather recover from a stroke. At age 19, she started practicing yoga and graduated physical therapy school when she was 24. She worked in a variety of healthcare settings and started her own yoga therapy practice in 2011. Jaimie works one-on-one with clients who have had minimum success managing their health symptoms and conditions with traditional healthcare. Her approach is both practical and holistic. In her free time, Jaimie slings cider at her husband’s cidery on 4th Avenue, Bawker Bawker Cider House. She loves spending time outside as much as possible, and she recently regrew an orchid, which she is very proud of. For more information, visit Jaimie’s website. |
