Dawn offers a holistic and nurturing approach to medicine. She draws patients who are highly motivated to discover and treat the root causes of their health issues. Her approach combines cutting-edge functional lab testing with traditional naturopathic medicine. “It’s been so exciting to see the research developments over my 20 years of practice support this approach!”
A treatment plan from Dawn typically includes recommendations for specialized functional lab testing, herbal and nutritional supplements, and diet and lifestyle advice. Prescription medications may be indicated at times; however, they are frequently used in a way to support the body’s own healing functions.
“I had always been intrigued by medicine, so after college, I got a job as a tech at the university hospital. I worked on all the different floorsؙ—ER, ICU, labor and delivery, etc.—and finished pre-med classes, but nothing seemed to click as a potential career path. Then a friend mailed me some brochures (this was before websites!) for naturopathic medical schools. I had already begun to study herbal medicine and nutrition on my own, and I couldn't believe that it was possible to become a doctor who used holistic treatments like those. I applied right away!”
Dawn spent much of her career as medical director of two inpatient treatment centers—one focused on addiction and trauma, the other on eating disorders—where she provided naturopathic medical care and education for all clients. She currently works part-time in a ketamine-assisted psychotherapy program.
Originally from rural Maryland, Dawn initially came to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. She now makes her home here with her husband and two daughters. She loves chocolate, traveling to explore far-off places, and teaching about naturopathic medicine on TikTok and Instagram.
