Born and raised in a small town outside St. Louis, Dawn loved sports from a young age— softball, basketball, bowling, tennis, and anything else that involved chasing a ball—and even grew up to major in Exercise and Sports Science in college. But all that fun and activity came at the cost of the inevitable injuries, chronic pain, and recovery. After living as a military spouse for 22 years, she developed an interest in massage therapy. Immersing herself in the study of the body once again, Dawn—a self-proclaimed “body nerd”—learned how to heal the pain and injuries that sports—and simply living in a body—can leave you with. Her college studies and massage studies informed each other in a way that finally made sense!
Dawn enjoys working with all kinds of clients—from age 7 to 87 and from professional athletes to sedentary office workers. Anyone looking for real results as well as the equally important sense of relaxation and the overall mental-health benefits that come from taking time for yourself. She has also studied techniques and practices related to breast cancer. Having traveled that path with a family member, she feels honored to work with anyone who is currently in treatment or is post-surgery and/or post-radiation for any type of cancer and is looking for a practitioner who is familiar with that journey.
Dawn believes in the body’s ability to heal itself when properly supported with individualized bodywork. She incorporates a variety of modalities in each session, guided by the client’s particular situation. Through thoughtful communication and focused attention to subtle cues from the body’s tissues and structures, she determines which techniques and therapies would suit best, drawing on elements from
reflexology, shiatsu, tui na, craniosacral therapy, and connective-tissue release to provide a thorough, focused, relaxed, and effective massage.
In addition to being a massage therapist, Dawn is a singer/songwriter who has played traditional venues as well as assisted living and injury-rehab facilities! She lived in Tucson briefly in the 2010s, fell in love with the Catalina Mountains, and swore to return here one day and settle down. Now she happily shares her Tucson home with the youngest of her three children and her coonhound, Arthur.
