Tamala had never had a massage before enrolling in massage school, so she was not sure what was in store for her. She was surprised to find that, in addition to a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology, her teachers also shared a deep understanding about the ways the body stores emotions and trauma. Having dealt with a lot of trauma in her own life, Tamala has found it fulfilling working with those who have PTSD, anxiety, and depression. In terms of her own depression and anxiety, Tamala considers massage to be the very thing that changed her life.
In her practice, Tamala focuses on activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which allows the body to receive touch in a deeper way. Working intuitively in this way, she has been able to benefit her clients and help improve their lives in a number of ways, from reducing migraines and headaches to helping to manage chronic pain and diseases like fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis. Having previously worked exclusively with veterans, active military, and people with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), mental health issues, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, and chronic pain, Tamala values creating a soothing and safe atmosphere in which her clients can breathe easy. As a natural Tucsonan, Tamala enjoys hiking, bike riding, yoga, meditation, painting, drawing, and curling up with her cat, Nugget, whenever she has the chance. Tamala also loves to explore new places to eat around town as well as spending time with her friends and family as much as she can. |
