90 minutes $105
A recent graduate and a former intern at Rooted, Olivia is a rare instance of a therapist prepared to join us right out of massage school. During her internship, she distinguished herself with her considerable skills and the maturity she brought to her work. We are happy to have her at Rooted and proud to introduce her to our clientele.
Olivia became interested in massage therapy and alternative medicine after struggling with the side effects of medication and then dealing with withdrawal symptoms after being overmedicated. She used guided meditation and somatic experiencing to alleviate the trauma of this experience. She came to appreciate the empowerment that alternative medicine gives, allowing each of us to take our health and wellness into our own hands. The somatic experiencing in particular sparked an interest in the emotional body and how massage can help with both physical and emotional trauma.
Olivia has found her strength in working with chronic pain and muscle injuries, especially in the low back and hips. She also loves working with people who prefer a gentle touch. She describes her work as “results-oriented, trauma-informed, and spiritual.” She strives to address not just the tissues themselves, but also the ways that emotions can be stored in the body to become chronic pain. In the future, she would like to specialize in trauma care and hospice care. In all cases, Olivia feels honored to support people in their natural healing process and through whatever health journey they may be on, be it spiritual, mental, or physical. She’s also committed to providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC people.
Growing up in a military family, Olivia moved often and lived in a lot of incredible places before coming to Tucson in 2014, her favorite being Korea. In her free time, she likes to read, meditate, and watch TV with her girlfriend and their two cats.
