Kim is a Pacific Northwest native who moved from Seattle to Tucson in 2018 and hasn’t looked back! She found massage serendipitously, while dealing with injuries from a car accident. The experience unlocked a world she had never considered but was, as it turns out, exactly what she was looking for. Since graduating from the 1,000-hour program at the Cortiva Institute, she has followed her guiding passion: to help those with chronic pain find freedom from that pain. As someone who deals with chronic joint pain herself, Kim understands how incredibly powerful bodywork can be and is always immensely honored to be part of her clients' wellness team.
Kim combines intuition—listening to what the body and muscles are trying to communicate—with a deep understanding of muscular anatomy to tailor each session to her clients' needs and goals, whatever they happen to be that day. Her style of massage is often described as therapeutic and deeply relaxing. Sessions incorporate movement and stretching, as well as heat in the form hot stones and towels and, when appropriate, heated silicone cups. Cupping, an increasingly popular technique, has become her favorite because of its effectiveness and the dramatic changes it has brought to her clients. Kim's goal in all her work is to not only decrease overall tension and pain but to increase mobility and introduce ease of movement into daily life.
Kim is incredibly passionate about animals. (She is also trained in animal massage!) Her home and free time (and money!) are dedicated to helping those who have no voice. She fosters and adopts homeless dogs and cats, many of whom are aged or have special needs. In fact, there hasn’t been day in over a decade when Kim hasn’t been caring for at least one special-needs dog or cat. She began her working life in the veterinary field and has worked in multiple roles in various specialty hospitals for the past 20 years. She remains active in this field, working remotely for a group of holistic veterinarians in Seattle and managing an online veterinary Chinese-herb shop.
Having spent the first 36 years of her life surrounded by green trees and gray sky, her move to Tucson was a dramatic change. But as she says, "I have enjoyed getting to know the sun, I love all the hiking available, and the gorgeous desert scenery just doesn't get old."
