One thing massage and music have in common is that each moves both the body and the soul.

Growing up in Douglas, Ernesto, a bassist, spent a lot of time playing music with friends. “The best part about being from a small town was that my circle of friends where all musicians,” he says, “so we all got to jam everyday growing up.” You could say that using his hands to share positive energy with others is a practice he has long been immersed in. Knowing he wanted to use a holistic, hands-on approach to help people, he came to Tucson to attend massage school.

Now in his second decade as a massage therapist, Ernesto takes his role as a healer seriously, infusing each session with energy and intent. “I understand that true healing goes beyond the physical,” he says, “and I believe movement is the best medicine, promoting the movement of chi, blood, and body.”

Ernesto is trained in neonatal and hospice massage, ashiatsu, and craniosacral therapy. “I’ve had some great mentors along the way who have taught me a lot about massage and energy.” He’s also effective in the realm of sports massage.

Ernesto gives each treatment the same intuitive care he’d give a performance—as if it were a kind of duet. “I give my clients my full attention, noticing how the body’s reacting, and I connect to your energy and release any energy you don’t need to be holding on to.”

Outside of work, you’ll usually find him spending time with his family. “I have three kids that make me proud and crack me up every day, and I work hard every day for them. They love music also, and we have a great time jamming and dancing.” He’s currently fronting a funk/death-metal band called RaspberrySlushy.
