EDUCATION
Desert Institute of the Healing Arts, Tucson SPECIALTIES Deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, and deep neck and shoulder mobilization CONTACT 520-519-9010 BrendaW.rootedmassage@gmail.com Brenda has a knack for going where she’s needed. After graduating from massage school in 2000, she went to live in New York where she did massage for the community after 9/11, on the pier where first aid was set up. She then moved to Illinois to be closer to her sister, who was growing her family. While there, she worked in a hospital with cancer patients as well as women and infants until she could open her own business, Sound Body Therapeutic Massage, which she nurtured for 11 years until COVID-19 hit, at which point she sold her house, closed her business, and moved back to Arizona to be closer to her mother. “Family is everything to me,” she says.
“I have always known I wanted to help people,” she adds, “I just didn’t know how.” When a friend told her about massage therapy, she took a short introductory course and was immediately hooked. In addition to traditional massage, she has studied and been certified in different modalities--pregnancy massage, lymphatic drainage, hot stones, and cupping, to name a few--that allow her to give each client specialized care and the results they need. “I work on a wide variety of clients,” Brenda says, “from those who just want relaxation to the clients who have a goal to achieve. My joy comes from the client’s satisfaction when the session is done.” Before your first session with Brenda, you will fill out a detailed intake form then discuss with her the results you are looking for from your treatment. She will confirm the areas of focus and the techniques she will be using. After that, you can relax, breathe, and be confident that Brenda will take care of you. With 20 years of experience and unflagging enthusiasm for her work, Brenda is definitely someone who has followed her true calling. “It combines my favorite things: I get to help people get relief from their pain and expand my family of friends, all the while having a rewarding job that I love.” “My favorite thing about massage is seeing the imbalance in a body, working the muscles, and then watching the client’s posture improve with each session. I love the challlenge of deep-tissue work; it’s what I’m best at.” Brenda is a lover of animals and dedicated to the preservation of the planet. She enjoys hiking the beautiful mountains of the Southwest, laughing with friends and family, and learning new crafts. |
