Austin is a husband, father, and physical therapist whose work bridges the science of movement with an intuitive understanding of nature. His mission is to restore patients’ ability to do the things they love by designing treatments that are effective, efficient, and stress-free.
Austin’s interest in movement and fitness began in his teen years, when his grandfather introduced him to weight training. He competed in powerlifting and learned the value of being and feeling strong. But the most impactful experience of his professional life took place five years into his career. He had grown restless with traditional medicine and felt he could be doing much more for his patients, so he decided to take an unpaid internship to learn from a seasoned physical therapist. The experience taught him that, when you approach patients’ issues with curiosity, the tension between textbook learning and clinical experience recedes, and the work becomes a collaboration with nature. This perspective shift guides his work to this day. Austin takes an intuitive approach, combining hard science with a more traditional, human understanding of how movement informs our lives as people. Austin’s integrated approach helps patients both resolve immediate limitations and develop more resilient movement patterns for lasting wellness. He has helped patients with a variety of conditions, from lower-back pain to headaches and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Each treatment session includes:
Austin is motivated by the idea that movement is how we interact with the world, in all cases. Learning how to adapt your movement strategies in as many scenarios as possible leads to growth and a greater life experience. He is invested in each patient’s long-term wellness and movement capabilities and sees his work as a way to not only help clients move beyond pain, but also to connect with each one as a complex person. When he’s not refining his work, Austin spends his time cooking or taking walks in nature with his wife and daughter. |
