Amber was first introduced to massage therapy in 1999 and was hooked. “I was intrigued by how touch helped to remove pain from the body and how tension seemed to stay gone for some time after.” That same year, she attended a 2-week introductory course at Tucson’s highly respected Desert Institute of the Healing Arts and knew she had found her calling, but life took her in a different direction, and she moved away. She found her way back to Tucson, and to massage school, 10 years later. She graduated from a 1,000-hour program (only 750 are required) and has been practicing ever since.
Amber has worked in a wide variety of contexts, here in Tucson and overseas. She began her career at a local resort spa, then relocated overseas and practiced at a fitness center on Ramstein Air Base in Germany for 7 years. There she was able to utilize many of the more-therapeutic techniques she learned in school and help both military and civilian clients manage self-care, overuse conditions, and injuries. Upon returning to Tucson, she worked at an acupuncture clinic, where she was able to help clients manage chronic pain. Amber’s work has been described as slow and methodical, forceful yet gentle, intuitive, and specific, as well as deeply relaxing. It is her goal to offer a safe space for clients to receive quality massage therapy, whether they are dealing with an injury or chronic pain condition, or just looking to escape the stressors of life for an hour or so. Amber has taken continuing education courses in rotator-cuff dysfunction, cupping and gua sha, lymphatic drainage, facilitated stretching, and orthopedic massage. She has also completed four levels of training in craniosacral therapy. When not working, Amber can be found hanging out with her family in Vail. |
